This flowchart outlines the measures to be taken if students, faculty or staff have cold-like symptoms, such as a cough, fever*, fatigue, difficulty breathing, sore throat, headache, and taste/smell disorder.
*A fever is when the body temperature is 37.5 degrees Celsius or higher, or 1 degree Celsius higher than usual.
This excludes cases with non-infectious diseases such as migraine or with symptom(s) due to vaccination.

First, call your family doctor or a nearby medical institution.
If you are uncertain, please contact Health Service Center of Hiroshima Univ. or Public Health Center.
Those who fall under the following categories should pay particular attention:
1) Those with strong symptoms such as, difficulty breathing (dyspnea), sense of fatigue (malaise) or a high fever.
2) Those who are prone to severe illness* and have weak cold-like symptoms, such as a fever, cough, etc. or those who are undergoing dialysis, cancer treatment, or taking immunosuppressants.
*The elderly, those with underlying diseases (such as, diabetes, heart failure or respiratory illnesses – like COPD).
3)Individuals other than those listed above, who have relatively weak cold-like symptoms that
have continued for more than 4 days. Symptoms vary from person to person, so those who think they have strong symptoms, or who have to continue taking fever medicine, or have abnormalities with their sense of smell or taste.
